Smokey Joes!

We tried this recipe looking for something easy to cook for dinner. Not only was it easy, it was excellent. We served it with onion rolls/buns from the local supermarket– excellent! We didn’t take any pictures but plan to next time it’s cooked!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 3/4 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 3 teaspoons brown sugar
  • ground black pepper to taste

Directions

  1. In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, onion, and green pepper; drain off liquids.
  2. Stir in the garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, liquid smoke and brown sugar; mix thoroughly.
  3. Reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Season with pepper to taste.
